The Santa Clara County Law Library is a public library providing free access to the judiciary, to state and county officials, to members of the State Bar, and to all residents of the county (California Business & Professions Code 6360).

Monday thru Thursday:
8:00 am to 7:00 pm

8:00 am to 5:00 pm

9:00 am to 4:00 pm


NOTICE: The library will be CLOSED Saturday, May 28th through Monday, May 30th for Memorial Day Weekend.

We are closed on all court holidays, except Lincoln's Birthday.  When holiday falls on a Monday or Friday, we may also close on Saturday.  Please call for recorded information at (408)299-3567.

Public Transportation

The Law Library is one and a half blocks north of the VTA St. James station for the light rail and Express 180/181 bus.

The Law Library is also served by VTA bus routes 65, 66, 72, 73, and 82. Please contact VTA at (408) 321-2300 for further routes and schedule information.


The Law Library has a parking lot with 30 slots, free for library patron use while visiting the law library.  First come, first serve.

Visitors who park in the library patron parking lot are required to register their vehicles in the library foyer.
Violators will be towed at the owner's expense.
