Our Mission
California Business & Professions Code Section 6360
A law library established under this chapter shall be free to
the judiciary, to state and county officials, to members of the
State Bar, and to all residents of the county, for the examination of
books and other publications at the library or its branches.
Since our founding in 1874, our mission had remain the same, to empower our residents to do their own legal research. We are open to general public.

Public Transportation
The Law Library is one and a half blocks north of the VTA St. James station for light rail and Express 180 bus.
The Law Library is also served by VTA bus route 23, 66, 72, 73, 82, and 85. Please contact VTA at (408) 321-2300 for further routes and schedule information.
Parking
The Law Library has a parking lot with 30 slots, free for library patron use while visit the law library. First come, first served.

Monday thru
Thursday:
8 A.M. to 7 P.M.
Friday:
8 A.M. to 5 P.M.
Saturday:
10 A.M. to 5 P.M. during Summer (Daylight Saving Time)
- Circulation desk and computer terminals shutdown 15 minutes
before
closing.
- Copiers room close 10 minutes before closing.
- We lock the enterance doors 5 minutes before closing time.
- Deposit borrower sign-up are processed up to 30 minutes before closing.
Holidays
We are closed on all court holiday, except Lincoln's Birthday. When holiday falls on Monday or Friday, we may also close on Saturday. Please call for recorded information at (408)299-3567.
The Law Library will be closed for Columbus Day Holiday.
