Our Mission
California Business & Professions Code Section 6360
A law library established under this chapter shall be free to
the judiciary, to state and county officials, to members of the
State Bar, and to all residents of the county, for the examination of
books and other publications at the library or its branches.
Since our founding in 1874, our mission had remain the same, to empower our residents to conduct legal researches. We are open to general public.

Public Transportation
The Law Library is one and a half blocks north of the VTA St. James station for light rail and Express 180 bus.
The Law Library is also served by VTA bus route 23, 66, 72, 73, 82, and 85. Please contact VTA at (408) 321-2300 for further routes and schedule information.
Parking
The Law Library has a parking lot with 30 slots, free for library patron use while visit the law library. First come, first served.

Monday thru
Thursday:
8 A.M. to 7 P.M.
Friday:
8 A.M. to 5 P.M.
Saturday:
9 A.M. to 4 P.M.
- Circulation desk and computer terminals shutdown 15 minutes
before
closing.
- Copiers room close 10 minutes before closing.
- We lock the enterance door 5 minutes before closing time.
- Deposit borrower sign-up, before 6:00 p.m. at San Jose main branch during weekdays only.
Holidays
We are closed on all court holiday, except Lincoln's Birthday. When holiday falls on Monday or Friday, we may also close on Saturday. Please call for recorded information at (408)299-3567.
We will be closed Saturday, May 24th thru Monday, May 26th for Memorial Day Holiday.
North County Palo Alto Branch
North County branch is located in the basement of Palo Alto Superior Court building.
Operation hour there is:

2:00 P.M. to 4:55 P.M.

The Palo Alto branch is staffed by a single staff member and may be closed for emergency or staffing reason with little or no notice. Call for confirmation.
